STUFF FROM TODAY...

Today we had a meeting and went to the bunhouse. The landlord and Craig weren't there so we couldn't ask all of our questions but i think eliza can ask craig some questions and if we go back to the bunhouse on sunday, monday or at about 3 on friday the landlord will be there so we can find out the answers to the following questions:

1. If there is any flexibility around the time we can have the space ie before hand so we have longer to build.
2.If we are allowed to cover the smoking area in any way- fire regulations etc blah.
3. If we can build into the dart board area of the pub and if we can how long can a structure stay there cos it would disrupt access to the dartboard, jukebox, and the toilets entrance.
4. If we can use the extra section of the roof.
5. If there is any storage space we can use.

if anyone can think of anything else they think we need to ask...

The cardboard arrived today but they only sent one pack so we have 10 pieces of roughly 1mx1m cardboard. Jordan is checking the bank account to see how much they charged us for so that we can get rowdy if they didn't send enough.

We talked about promotion:

- CAN WE HAVE A MEETING ON TUESDAY AT 10.30 UNLESS THE TUTORS HAVE SOMETHING PLANNED FOR THEN IN WHICH CASE WE CAN HAVE ONE IN THE AFTERNOON. THERE IS IMPORTANT STUFF WE NEED TO DO AND ALL NEED TO AGREE ON.
- we need to talk about imagery for POSTERS - maybe if anyone has time to start creating imagery that could possibly be used if you have any specific ideas.
We were thinking that we would screen print the posters- we could also do some in lithography.
We could screen print FLYERS but alignment etc is difficult and we could also use the flyer company we used for fact and fiction which is something like £80 for 500 flyers.

On tuesday we need to write a PRESS RELEASE that can be sent out to local papers etc. I think it is important that we are all involved in producing the notes for this because i think it will be a big help in clarifying and focussing the idea of what we are doing in everyones mind.

Also we need to come up with a TITLE for the exhibition so think about that.

We were also discussing the fact that with the confines of the space we cannot have 11 separate dens. Our ideas include that of ownership of space and of tailoring space to our needs rather than the other way around. With a smaller space we need to ensure that it still represents everyones notions of personal space. Is this going to be a space that represents us as a group of 11 which i think the practice proposal den did. We all need to think about the various ideas everybody had for the spaces and work form there to establish ideas that cover the most important aspects of what everyone was trying to get across. I don't mean that we pick and chose from the initial things everyone suggested as we need to think about tailoring it to the size of the venue.

We will create a space within a space so we were thinking it would be maybe be important for none of the walls of the existing space to be seen.

I have been going through the poetics of space again and there is an interesting bit about the way birds build nests- how it is built entirely based on the necessary/ built entirely to purpose and how it is a house 'built by and for the body, taking form from the inside, like a shell, in an intimacy that works physically. The form of the nest is commanded by the inside' and 'the instrument that prescribes a circular form [for the inside of the nest] is nothing else but the body of the bird.'

I thought that this was interesting in terms of us reshaping the rooms from the centre so the that the new walls of the rooms are governed by our needs for the space.

We have a lot to work from- we can use working within the confines of the space and using the skills that we have learnt to develop what will be in the space.

We were thinking about building out from the door at the back of the pub so that there is none of the original exhibition space visible. If there is then none of the walls visible inside it can be purely our space that the viewer has to enter. In terms of the comfortable vs. uncomfortable thing we thought maybe it could be a case of crawling through this extended entrance to get in.

We measured all of the spaces inside the bunhouse and i'll scan in the maps i made. Iz also took some photos so she'll put them up later.
